Project Vision Hawai‘i is proud to partner with See Worthy Eye Patches to provide free patches to qualifying keiki with amblyopia. When Paige Brattin’s daughter was diagnosed with refractive amblyopia, she started to wear a patch to help restore her sight. However, patching at the time was not comfortable or convenient. This is how See Worthy occlusion patches were born. Paige got to work and invented an ergonomic shape of patches made out of breathable materials that are not only very comfortable to wear, but also very stylish with their fun designs for all ages. See Worthy Patches feature a proprietary channeled adhesive layout which allows for increased breathability and easy removal at the end of the day. Their unique shape also hugs the eye socket for a more natural fit and works great for infant to adult faces, perfectly.

What is amblyopia?

Amblyopia is commonly referred to as a “lazy eye” and occurs when vision in one eye is reduced due to abnormal visual development early in life. The weaker eye often will wander inward or outward and is caused by the brain suppressing or ignoring its images and favoring the stronger eye. If left untreated, amblyopia can lead to blindness.

What is patching?

Occlusion therapy, or “patching”, is a treatment for amblyopia where the stronger eye is covered or patched, forcing the weaker eye to work harder.
