Active cases at correctional facility grow to 325 inmates, 45 employees

The outbreak at Halawa Correctional Facility continues to grow.

The Department of Public Safety reported Saturday an additional 55 inmates and eight staff members have tested positive for COVID-19.

It brings the total active cases to 325 inmates and 43 staff at the facility.

As a precautionary measure, the HCF warden implemented facility-wide isolation and quarantine protocols that began last week.

DPS confirms surge testing, with the assistance of the Department of Health and Hawaii National Guard and Project Vision Hawaii, will continue until there are no new positive cases at the facility.

In its daily COVID-19 inmate report the department confirms three active cases at OCCC, six at the Waiawa Correctional Facility and four at the Saguaro facility in Arizona.
